Similar ETFs

RESEARCH

A matching view across ETFs: what they hold, what they cost, and how much they overlap — so you can see if two tickers are the same bet twice.

Why similar ETFs exist

A lot of portfolios accidentally stack the same megacap names through three different funds. The similar-ETF view is there to show exposure, strategy, volatility, cost, and holdings overlap.

It is a comparison tool. It does not pick a winner or tell you to switch brokers. Fee differences only matter if two funds are trying to do the same job.

If you imported a book, start from a fund you already hold. Ask whether a cheaper wrapper covers roughly the same basket, and whether you already own those companies twice.

A switch can create a tax bill. Ryxel will not compute lots or wash sales. If the position is large, talk to a tax professional before you click anything at the broker.

How to compare without fooling yourself

  1. Step 1

Start from a fund you own

Similarity is only useful next to a real position. Do not browse 'best ETFs' lists.

  2. Step 2

Look at overlap before the return

If two funds hold the same megacaps, a hotter chart is often just timing, not a better idea.

  3. Step 3

Put fees next to the job

A cheaper fund that does a different job is not a substitute. Cost only wins when exposure matches.

  4. Step 4

    Check more than one window

A single hot year will lie. Compare across the windows the page shows, then decide at the broker.

Who ETF comparison is for

Useful if you already hold funds and want to see whether they are the same bet twice. Not a fund supermarket.

A good fit if

  • You hold a core ETF plus sector funds

That is the usual place hidden megacap overlap lives.

  • You are paying a brand-name fee

See whether a cheaper wrapper actually covers the same exposure before you keep writing the check.

  • You imported the book

Comparison attached to holdings beats a generic screener of every ETF on earth.

Not the right tool if

  • You want Ryxel to pick a fund

We will not rank or recommend. You still choose.

  • You need a tax engine

Lots, wash sales, and IRA vs taxable outcomes live with a tax pro or your broker.

Why it is useful

Overlap you can see

Holdings overlap is the fastest way to notice you already own the same companies in two wrappers.

Cost next to exposure

Fee differences only matter if the funds are actually trying to do the same job. The comparison keeps both in view.

Not just a one-year chart

Multi-timeframe performance is there so a single hot year does not decide the match.

Works with a real portfolio

If you imported holdings, you can ask whether a fund is a cleaner expression of something you already own.

Jobs this actually helps with

Fee check

See whether a cheaper fund covers roughly the same exposure before you keep paying for a brand name.

Concentration audit

Spot hidden megacap overlap across a core ETF and a sector fund.

Replace a closed idea

If you want out of one wrapper, look at funds that actually hold a similar basket.

Explain a return

Compare two 'same theme' ETFs across windows to see if the story is the holdings or the timing.

Frequently asked questions

Does this recommend a fund?

No. It shows similarity, cost, and overlap. You still choose what to hold.

Does it include every ETF?

It compares across a large ETF universe we cover in the app. It is not a promise that every listed product worldwide is in the set.

Will it tell me the tax outcome of a switch?

No. There is no tax-lot or wash-sale engine here. Talk to a tax professional if a switch is large.

Is this investment advice?

No. Ryxel is a research and tracking tool. It does not recommend trades, manage money, or act as a broker or registered investment adviser. You decide what to do with the information.
